IDENTITY IN THE NOVEL THE FLAT OF FREEDOM BY GHAZI AL-QUSAYBI: A SEMIOTIC STUDY [الهوية في رواية شقة الحرية لغازي القصيبي دراسة سيميائية]

Abstract


Ghazi al-Qusaybi is considered one of the Saudi writers who have influenced the literary field with many works. He has many books varying between poetry, novel and short story. The rich production of works gives an impression of his strength and his position. In addition to that, the various positions occupied by al-Qusaybi formed different ideas for him. The research aims to study the identity in the novel The Flat of Freedom and its components as well as its semiotic analysis. The research relies on the descriptive and analytical method in explaining the idea of the novel and the patterns of identity that Ghazi al-Qusaybi wanted to draw and embody its lists. Then, this study explains the symbolic signs that carry the semantics of the identity in this novel. This research found several results; the most important is that the identity components are divided into: identity and symbolism of the title, identity of the Arab community, identity of political thought,  psychological identity, religious identity, and identity of woman. Ghazi al-Qusaybi had implemented all these ideas in the novel The Flat of Freedom, which focused on the Arab situation in general and the Gulf countries in particular.

يعد غازي القصيبي من الأدباء السعوديين الذين أثروا الساحة الأدبية بأعمال كثيرة. فنجد مؤلفاته متنوعة بين الشعر والرواية والقصة. فهذه الشخصية بهذا الإنتاج الثري تعطي انطباعًا عن قوتها ومكانتها. ويضاف إلى ذلك أن المناصب التي شغلها القصيبي كونت لديه فكراً مغايراً. ويهدف البحث إلى دراسة الهوية في رواية (شقة الحرية) لهذا الأديب وبيان مكوناتها، وتحليلها ودراستها سيميائياً. ويعتمد البحث على المنهج الوصفي التحليلي في بيان فكرة الرواية وأنماط الهوية التي أراد غازي القصيبي أن يرسمها، ويجسد قوائمها، ثم بيان العلامات الرمزية التي تحمل دلالات الهوية في هذه الرواية. وتوصل البحث إلى مجموعة من النتائج من أهمها أن مكونات الهوية انقسمت إلى: هوية العنوان ورمزيته، وهوية المجتمع العربي، وهوية الفكر السياسي، والهوية النفسية، والهوية الدينية، وهوية المرأة. وفي ذلك كله كان لغازي القصيبي فكر بثه من خلال رواية شقة الحرية التي ركزت على الحالة العربية عامة والخليجية خاصة.
