Kajian ini meneliti hubungan antara pendekatan self-healing dengan pengurusan emosi dalam kalangan mahasiswa Fakulti Pengajian Islam Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia dengan memberi tumpuan kepada model kerohanian Imam al-Ghazali melalui karya Minhāj al-‘Ābidīn yang menekankan elemen taubat, sabar, tawakal, syukur, muhasabah dan sebagainya sebagai asas kesejahteraan emosi. Permasalahan kajian ini didasari oleh peningkatan isu masalah emosi mahasiswa yang menuntut kepada satu mekanisme kendiri bagi mengekalkan keseimbangan emosi. Objektif kajian adalah untuk mengenal pasti tahap amalan self-healing, meneliti tahap pengurusan emosi serta menganalisis hubungan di antara kedua-duanya dalam konteks mahasiswa fakulti pengajian Islam. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, yang melibatkan seramai 36 orang responden mahasiswa sarjana yang dipilih daripada Pusat Kajian Dakwah dan Kepimpinan FPI UKM. Data dikumpulkan melalui borang soal selidik yang dianalisis melalui statistik deskriptif (kekerapan, min, peratus) dan korelasi Pearson (hubungan) dengan menggunakan perisian Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) versi 29. Dapatan menunjukkan min keseluruhan self-healing ialah 4.63, manakala min tahap pengurusan emosi ialah 2.91. Analisis korelasi mendapati terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara self-healing dengan pengurusan emosi (r = -0.35, p = 0.036), yang menjelaskan bahawa semakin tinggi tahap self-healing yang diamalkan semakin rendah pergantungan emosi negatif mahasiswa dalam menghadapi tekanan. Hal ini menegaskan kepentingan konsep self-healing Imam al-Ghazali sebagai satu pendekatan Islami yang berpotensi membina daya tahan dalaman serta meningkatkan kecerdasan emosi. Kajian ini memberikan implikasi praktikal kepada mahasiswa untuk lebih mengamalkan pendekatan kerohanian antaranya melalui kaedah self-healing sebagai strategi menangani tekanan selain memberi nilai tambah kepada wacana psikologi Islam dan pendidikan tinggi. Kesimpulannya, self-healing berteraskan kerohanian mampu menjadi asas pembangunan emosi yang seimbang dan seterusnya melahirkan mahasiswa yang berilmu, berakhlak serta berkualiti.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between self-healing approaches and emotional management among students of the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, focusing on Imam al-Ghazali’s spiritual model in Minhāj al-‘Ābidīn, which emphasises elements such as repentance, patience, reliance on God, gratitude, and self-reflection as foundations for emotional well-being. The research problem arises from the increasing emotional challenges faced by university students, which demand a self-driven mechanism to maintain emotional balance. The objectives are to identify the level of self-healing practices, assess the level of emotional management, and analyse the relationship between both aspects within the context of Islamic Studies students. Employing a quantitative approach, the study involved 36 postgraduate respondents from the Centre for Dakwah and Leadership Studies, FPI UKM. Data were collected using a survey instrument and analysed using descriptive statistics (frequency, mean, percentage) and Pearson correlation through SPSS version 29. Findings indicate that the overall mean for self-healing is 4.63, while the mean for emotional management is 2.91. Correlation analysis shows a moderate but significant negative relationship between self-healing and emotional management (r = –0.35, p = 0.036), suggesting that higher engagement in self-healing practices corresponds with reduced negative emotional dependency when facing stress. This underscores the relevance of Imam al-Ghazali’s self-healing concepts as an Islamic approach capable of fostering inner resilience and enhancing emotional intelligence. The study offers practical implications for students to strengthen spiritual-based self-healing as a strategy for coping with pressure, while contributing to the discourse of Islamic psychology and higher education. In conclusion, spiritual-based self-healing serves as a foundation for balanced emotional development, ultimately shaping knowledgeable, ethical, and high-quality students.
