Teori Situasi Publik (STP): Mengungkai Isu Komunikasi WhatsApp di Malaysia

Abstract


Isu komunikasi WhatsApp sering kali didengari berlaku dalam mana-mana organisasi kerajaan mahupun swasta. Masalah komunikasi WhatsApp iaitu majikan memberi arahan kerja di luar waktu bekerja telah menyebabkan berlakunya tekanan kerja kepada pekerja. Dengan mengambil pandangan daripada sudut komunikasi, kajian ini mengaplikasikan Teori Situasi Publik (STP) untuk mengenal pasti persepsi situasi dan tingkah laku komunikasi dalam kalangan pekerja di Malaysia. Objektif spesifik kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti persepsi dan tingkah laku komunikasi pekerja dalam masalah situasi apabila majikan memberi arahan kerja di luar waktu bekerja melalui WhatsApp. Maklumat ini dapat mempengaruhi cara individu dalam aktiviti pencarian, pemilihan, dan pemprosesan maklumat sebagai langkah kepada proses penyelesaian masalah dari sudut komunikasi WhatsApp di UPM. Kajian ini juga bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan antara persepsi situasi dan tingkah laku komunikasi melalui WhatsApp dalam kalangan pekerja UPM. Borang soal selidik digunakan sebagai instrumen kajian. Sampel kajian terdiri daripada 364 orang pekerja UPM yang telah memberi maklum balas. Hasil kajian menunjukkan secara signifikannya pengenalpastian kekangan dalam kalangan pekerja UPM merupakan pemboleh ubah peramal paling utama dalam melakukan tindakan penyelesaian masalah iaitu (ß= .109, p<.05) dan memberi sumbangan varians sebanyak 34%. Pengenalpastian penglibatan pula merupakan peramal kedua utama yang menyumbang dalam tingkah laku komunikasi iaitu (β = .30, p<.05) dengan sumbangan varians sebanyak 33%. Seterusnya pengenalpastian masalah iaitu (β= .32, p<.05) dengan sumbangan varians sebanyak 26% merupakan peramal yang kurang menyumbang kepada tingkah laku komunikasi. Perbincangan yang kritis mengenai penyelesaian masalah komunikasi WhatsApp mampu memberi kesimpulan signifikan kepada organisasi untuk merangkakan komunikasi yang lebih berkesan.
