Kajian Kes Perlaksanaan Etika Kerja Islam (EKI) di Johor Corporation (JCorp): Tumpuan kepada Perlaksanaan dan Faedahnya

ABSTRACT

Literatur menunjukkan bahawa etika kerja merupakan isu penting yang mempengaruhi pengurusan dan prestasi organisasi. Artikel ini bertujuan mengkaji etika kerja Islam yang dilaksanakan di JCorp. Artikel ini juga bertujuan untuk mengkaji faedah-faedah yang diterima hasil daripada perlaksanaan etika kerja Islam di JCorp. Kajian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan kaedah kualitatif yang melibatkan JCorp sebagai kajian kes. Temubual separa-struktur digunakan sebagai kaedah pungutan data yang utama, yang kemudiannya disokong oleh kaedah pungutan data dengan meneliti kepada dokumen-dokumen berkaitan. Para pengurus tertinggi dan eksekutif (pegawai) JCorp telah ditemubual untuk mendapatkan maklumat tentang perlaksanaan etika kerja Islam di JCorp dan faedah-faedah yang diperolehi daripadanya. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa terdapat tujuh amalan etika kerja Islam yang dilaksanakan oleh warga kerja JCorp iaitu bekerja sebagai ibadah kepada Allah SWT, disiplin, amanah, syura, adil, islah (penambahbaikan berterusan) dan bersungguh-sungguh. Perlaksanaan etika kerja Islam yang berkesan turut memberikan faedah yang signifikan sama ada kepada warga kerja JCorp, kepada organisasi JCorp itu sendiri dan kepada masyarakat. Antara faedahnya ialah lahirnya warga kerja yang menunjukkan komitmen kerja yang tinggi, peluang kenaikan pangkat, kadar pekerja berhenti yang rendah dan warga kerja berpengalaman yang setia. Faedah lain ialah JCorp mampu melaksanakan tanggungjawab sosialnya secara aktif, termasuklah program Klinik Waqaf An-Nur. Perlaksanaan etika kerja Islam juga membantu JCorp menjana keuntungan perniagaan yang tinggi, seterusnya menyumbang kepada pembangunan ekonomi negeri Johor dan negara. Kajian ini membuktikan bahawa dengan kerjasama pihak pengurusan dan para pekerja, etika kerja Islam berjaya dilaksanakan di JCorp. Hasil atau dapatan daripada kajian ini boleh dijadikan panduan kepada para pengurus dalam usaha mereka untuk melaksanakan etika kerja Islam secara efektif.

ABSTRACT

The literature reveals that work ethic is a paramount issue which affects organisational management and performance. This article aims to study the Islamic work ethics practices in JCorp. This article also aims to assess the benefits received as a result of Islamic work ethics practices at JCorp. This study was conducted using qualitative methods involving JCorp as a case study. Semi-structured interviews were used as the main data collection methods, which are in turn supported by data collection methods by examining the relevant documents. The JCorp’s top managers and executives were interviewed to examine Islamic work ethics practiced at JCorp and benefits received from it. The research findings showed that there were seven Islamic work ethics practiced in JCorp namely work was considered as worship to Allah SWT, discipline, trust, shura, justice, continuous improvement and vigor. Islamic work ethics practices has resulted significant benefits to JCorp’s workforce, to JCorp organisation itself and also to the public. Among the benefits are the development of workforce who demonstrate a high job commitment, providing opportunities for promotion, low staff turnover and loyal experienced workforces. Other benefits such as JCorp able to actively deliver social responsibility, including a program named Waqf An-Nur Clinics. Implementation of Islamic work ethics also helps JCorp in making huge profits in business, thus contributing to economic growth in the state of Johore and nation. This study shows that with the cooperation of management and employees, the Islamic work ethic has been successfully implemented in JCorp. The findings from this study can be employed as a guideline to managers in their endevour to practice Islamic work ethics effectively.
