Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to explore the concept of mental health through a dual approach that integrates the contemporary psychological perspective with the Islamic perspective, with the objective of providing a comprehensive and balanced understanding of the factors influencing mental well-being. The contemporary psychological perspective examines mental health through a scientific framework grounded in recent psychological theories that emphasize stress adaptation, the enhancement of psychological resilience, and the achievement of emotional balance. In contrast, the Islamic perspective presents a holistic view that combines spiritual, psychological, and social dimensions, drawing on Islamic principles that seek to promote inner peace and tranquility. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical methodology to review the relevant literature, along with a comparative approach to identify points of similarity and difference between the two perspectives. The findings reveal that the Islamic approach is characterized by its comprehensiveness and reliance on four key foundations: faith in God, psychological security, balanced social interaction, and the fulfillment of essential needs. Meanwhile, modern schools of psychology focus on specific dimensions that vary across the individual, the environment, and the broader community. The originality of this study lies in its integration of psychological and Islamic frameworks into a unified model, contributing to the enrichment of West Asian Studies by offering an approach that aligns with the cultural and religious particularities of Muslim societies. This integrated perspective provides valuable insights for researchers and policymakers in developing mental health programs tailored to the needs of the region.
