Additionally, another purpose of this research is to analyze the connection between the basis of his thought on knowledge and the Malay attitude towards knowledge, and observe its effect on their social status. This is a qualitative research using archive study and document analysis involving data collection and data analysis is applied to examine and observe the ideas and views of Syed Sheikh al-Hadi regarding knowledge. Research findings show that balanced knowledge, that which integrates religious revealed knowledge (naqli) and modern rational (‘aqli) knowledge, will show to the wise a clear concept of knowledge. Failure by one to recognize the importance and relation between the elements of knowledge, intellect and religion will lead to perversion in conduct and practice as well as failure to understand his true role in religion, race and country. This research has significant value in the face of 21st Century challenges because the integration of revealed (naqli) knowledge and rational (‘aqli) knowledge is still relevant in dealing with today’s current of progress based on science and technology.
