Author Guidelines

Submission of articles implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture or academic thesis), or it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, that its publication is approved by all authors and tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out, and if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, without the written consent from the publisher. Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to transfer copyright. A form facilitating transfer of copyright agreement (CTA form) will be provided. Jurnal Kejuruteraan (Journal of Engineering) also accept manuscripts in Malay (Bahasa Melayu) language. However, kindly take note that the title and abstract must be prepared in both Malay and English languages.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission’s compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. Please adhere to the following format:

  a) Title, authors(s), address(es)

Please provide full name of the authors, full address and email address of corresponding authors in a separate word file.

Example:

  b) Abstract

The abstract should be clear, descriptive and should provide a brief information to the problem. This should generally be followed by a statement regarding the methodology and a brief summary of results. The abstract should end with a comment on the significance of the result or a brief conclusion. Abstract are written preferably from 200 to 250 words. For articles written in Malay (Bahasa Melayu), the abstract needs to be written in both Malay and English languages.

Keywords: Maximum of five (5) relevant keywords.

  c) Introduction: Please provide statement of the problems, outline of the paper and important findings

  d) Experimental/ methodology

  e) Results & Discussion

  f) Conclusion

  g) Declaration of competing interest

  h) Acknowledgement

  i) References

All publications cited in the text should be included in the reference list. References should be listed in an alphabetical order according to UKM styles format. Example of references can be referred to the template of manuscript.

  j) Tables

Number of tables consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the text. Please use Arabic numerals and supply a heading. Tables and their captions should be centered on the page. Place footnotes to the table below the table body and indicate them with superscript lowercase letters. Be sparing in the use of the tables and ensure that the data presented in the table do not duplicate results described elsewhere in the article.

  k) Figures

Figures are sequentially numbered commencing at Figure 1 and followed by their captions and are placed at the bottom of the figure. Please ensure that figures are clear and legible with typed lettering.

  l) Nomenclature, symbols and abbreviation

Only wide used accepted symbols and forms of abbreviations should be used, but always give full expression followed by the abbreviation the first time it appears in the text. Abbreviations and symbols used in the tables and figures should be explained in the legend. The used of symbols in the text should be avoided as much as possible as they disrupt the flow of the sentences as well as the appearance of the typeset page. In no case should a combination of symbols and words be used.

2. Manuscript Template

Jurnal Kejuruteraan practises double-blind review process. Therefore, all authors are required to submit their original research papers or review papers in two formats: with and without authors’ details. Templates can be accessed in the ‘Templates and Forms’.

3. Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA) form

Authors are required to submit the CTA form that includes four (4) potential reviewers. However, please note that The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board will decide on assigning the suggested reviewers based on their expertise and publication track records.

4. Proofs and reprints

The accepted article will be regarded as final, and the files will be processed as such. Proofs are for checking typesetting /editing: only printer errors maybe corrected. No changes in, or addition to the edited manuscript will be accepted.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
    • Original research papers - should be minimum 3000 words and up to a maximum of 7000 words
    • Review papers - should be minimum 5000 words and up to a maximum of 8000 words


    The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided

  3. A full manuscript with no authors details is uploaded as a main file (main submission) for the double-blind review process

  4. All supplementary files are uploaded:

    • Full manuscript with authors details (Microscoft Word file format only)
    • Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA) form (Microsoft Word or PDF only)

     

  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. Adhere to a full payment of Article Processing Charge (APC) once submission is accepted
