Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.


Author Guidelines

JUUM publishes articles, case commentary and legislation notes in standard British English or standard Malay. Writers should submit their papers in Microsoft Word document with Tables and Figures embedded in the text itself. Authors are encouraged to download recent papers to have a feel of what is expected.


Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  7. Articles should not exceed 20 pages. Case commentary / Legislation notes should not exceed 10 pages.
  8. Abstract should not exceed 250 words, Italicised, Times New Roman, 12 font. Papers in Malay should also have an English abstract. Abstracts should contain 5 keywords. No abstract is required for case commentary and legislation notes.

Copyright Notice

It is the author’s sole responsibility to ensure that all work submitted does not infringe any existing copyright. Authors should obtain permission to reproduce or adapt copyrighted material and provide evidence of approval upon submitting the final version of the manuscript. Views expressed by authors are entirely their own. The Editorial Board shall not be responsible for views expressed and the language used in every article.

Every work submitted will be screened by Turnitin to prevent plagiarism.
