ANALISIS KESELAMATAN SIBER DARI PERSPEKTIFPERSEKITARAN SOSIAL: KAJIAN TERHADAP PENGGUNA INTERNET DI LEMBAH KLANG

Abstract


Cyber threats are not a new issue in Malaysia however this needs to be taken seriously from all parties as it can bring a huge loss to individuals. The lack of understanding of cyber security among Internet users has caused many people in the country to become victims of cyber crime syndicates. Furthermore, many Internet users have ignored the principles of internet safety and consider it as a fiddling matter. Individual cyber securities practices are based on their social environment factors. Thus, this study analyses the social environment factors for cyber security of Internet users, of which five factors has been taken into consideration, namely, parental guidance, peer-to-peer influences, workplace roles, mass media roles and government policies. Using focus group technique consisting of 35 informants with experience in using the Internet, qualitative research has been choosing for this study. Among findings from this study is that on average the informant’s parents are playing good role and monitor their children online activities such as creating a special Facebook for monitoring purpose. Besides that, the study’s informants are agreed with the government policies to require all online sellers to register their business activities at Companies Commission of Malaysia and also setting-up the cyber court in Malaysia.
