Kepimpinan Guru dan Pembangunan Murid di SBP: Analisis Model Berstruktur (Teacher Leadership and Student Development in SBP: An Analysis of a Structured Model)
Abstract
Abstrak: Di Malaysia, kepimpinan murid di Sekolah Berasrama Penuh (SBP) menjadi fokus utama dalam melahirkan pemimpin masa depan yang berkualiti. Namun, kajian sedia ada kurang menumpukan perhatian kepada pembangunan kepimpinan murid yang dipengaruhi oleh kepimpinan guru, khususnya dalam proses pengajaran. Oleh itu, kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti pengaruh kepimpinan guru terhadap kepimpinan murid di SBP. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, kajian ini melibatkan 355 guru sebagai sampel, dengan instrumen soal selidik yang diuji kesahannya melalui analisis Faktor Eksploratori (EFA). Data dianalisis menggunakan perisian IBM SPSS Amos melalui pendekatan Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Dapatan utama menunjukkan bahawa kepimpinan guru memberikan pengaruh yang sangat signifikan (β = 0.87) terhadap kepimpinan murid. Analisis juga mendapati tingkah laku kepimpinan guru dalam pedagogi menyumbang sebagai faktor yang paling dominan, diikuti oleh karisma dan kompetensi. Kajian ini menyumbang kepada pemahaman yang lebih mendalam tentang peranan kepimpinan guru melalui model berstruktur yang dibangunkan dan mencadangkan beberapa strategi untuk memperkukuhkan kepimpinan guru di SBP, termasuk meningkatkan latihan dan pembangunan profesional guru serta menyarankan pendekatan pedagogi yang lebih berpusatkan murid dalam meningkatkan kepimpinan murid di masa depan. Hasil kajian ini memberi panduan kepada pengamal pendidikan dalam merancang intervensi yang lebih efektif bagi memperkasa kepimpinan murid di SBP, serta memberikan asas untuk penambahbaikan dasar pendidikan di peringkat Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia (KPM).
Abstract: In Malaysia, student leadership in Fully Residential Schools (FRS) is a primary focus in cultivating high-quality future leaders. However, existing studies have paid limited attention to the development of student leadership influenced by teacher leadership, particularly in the teaching process. Therefore, this study aims to identify the influence of teacher leadership on student leadership in FRS. Adopting a quantitative approach, the study involved 355 teachers as the sample, utilizing a questionnaire instrument validated through Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Amos software through the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach. The main findings indicate that teacher leadership has a highly significant influence (β = 0.87) on student leadership. Further analysis revealed that teacher leadership behaviors in pedagogy are the most dominant contributing factor, followed by charisma and competence. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of teacher leadership through the structured model developed and proposes several strategies to strengthen teacher leadership in FRS. These include enhancing teacher training and professional development and recommending more student-centered pedagogical approaches to improve student leadership in the future. The findings provide valuable guidance for educational practitioners in planning more effective interventions to empower student leadership in FRS and offer a foundation for improving educational policies at the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) level.
