KECENDERUNGAN KUMBANG PENDEBUNGA, Elaeidobius kamerunicus KELAPA SAWIT TERHADAP KEPEKATAN SEBATIAN ESTRAGOL YANG BERBEZA
Abstract
Sebatian kimia organik meruap (SKOM) merupakan hidrokarbon yang terbentuk melalui tindakbalas hasil interaksi antara tumbuhan dengan persekitarannya. SKOM memainkan peranan penting dalam aktiviti pendebungaan, tumbesaran pokok serta perlindungan terhadap tumbuhan daripada perubahan keadaan persekitaran. Salah satu SKOM yang dihasilkan bunga sawit adalah sebatian estragol. Penghasilan sebatian estragol dalam bunga sawit bertujuan untuk menarik kehadiran kumbang pendebunga, Elaeidobius kamerunicus bagi menjalankan aktiviti pendebungaan pada bunga. Objektif kajian ini adalah untuk menentukan perbezaan respon E. kamerunicus jantan dan betina yang liar dan dibiak di makmal terhadap larutan estragol komersial yang berbeza kepekatan. Hasil kajian makmal menunjukkan terdapat perbezaan min peratusan bilangan kumbang E. kamerunicus terhadap kepekatan sebatian estragol yang berlainan. Dalam kajian ini, min peratusan kumbang E. kamerunicus dicatatkan paling tinggi pada kepekatan estragol 100 ppm dan berbeza secara signifikan (P<0.05) berbanding kepekatan estragol yang lain (1, 5, 10, 30, 50, 70, 150, 200) ppm. Dari hasil kajian ini menggambarkan bahawa kepekatan sebatian estragol yang berbeza di ladang yang di pengaruhi banyak faktor mampu memberi kesan ke atas respon dan peranana kumbang E. kamerunicus sebagai pendebunga utama sawit dan peratus pembentukan buah.
